Tulfo said this amid the possible escalation of tension in the Middle East after Israel and the United States (US) attacked Iran.
In a statement, Tulfo said the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has been proactive in ensuring exit arrangements for the approximately 823 Filipinos currently in Iran, as well as for the thousands of Filipinos residing and working in Israel. He added that Philippine embassies in other potentially affected areas have also put in place procedures that Filipinos can follow should they need assistance.
"We believe that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has been proactive in ensuring that there will be exit points for the approximately 823 Filipinos currently in Iran, as well as the thousands of Filipinos residing and working in Israel," he said.
"Further, the Philippine embassies in other affected areas already created procedures that Filipinos can follow should they need to seek help," he added.
He said his office remains in close coordination with the DFA and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to activate measures without delay, including the preparation and implementation of immediate repatriation plans for those who wish to return home.
Tulfo also urged Filipinos in the region to maintain close communication with Philippine embassies and to regularly report their status to ensure timely assistance.
“In times like this, we must remain proactive, vigilant, and fully prepared to respond to the needs of Filipinos overseas who are on the brink of danger,” Tulfo said.
Tulfo also expressed alarm over the escalating tensions, warning of growing risks to civilians, including Filipinos living and working in the region.
He cited reports of “major combat operations” involving Israel, the US, and Iran, saying the developments pose serious dangers to overseas Filipinos.
