Jennie wins at 23rd Korean Music Awards

BLACKPINK’s Jennie won two awards at the 23rd Korean Music Awards (KMA) held on Feb. 26. 

The KMA prides itself as an awards ceremony that gives importance to musicality over popularity and commercial success. It is notable for giving awards to non-K-pop idol artists in different categories. 

While countless songs are released every year, only a small fraction are chosen by the public or receive media exposure. This is precisely why the Korean Popular Music Awards exist. We aim to bridge the gap between creators and consumers, serving as a bridge between musicians and the public. Therefore, we ask you to carefully examine not only the winning entries but also all the finalists,” wrote Kim Gwang-hyun, chairman of the Korean Music Awards selection committee. 

Jennie won Best K-pop Album for “Ruby” and Best K-pop Song for “Like Jennie.” 

Lee Chan-hyuk of Akdong Musician won three awards: Song of the Year and Best Pop Song for “Endangered Love" and Best Pop Album for Lee Chan-hyuk “Eros.”
