The Cabagan-Santa Maria Bridge in Isabela will open to traffic on Mar. 2 with strict limits on vehicle weight and height to ensure public safety, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
The bridge has been closed since its partial collapse in February 2025, which rendered it unusable for regular traffic.
“The local governments of Cabagan and Sta. Maria and the DPWH-Isabela 1st District Engineering Office will implement 24/7 traffic management,” the DPWH said in an advisory Friday, Feb. 27
It added that engineers will continue to monitor the bridge for any unusual movements.
Crossing vehicles will be limited to a maximum gross weight of three tons and a height of 2.5 meters, the agency said.
Plastic barriers and caution tape will guide motorists along the center portion of the bridge to ensure that only authorized vehicles pass safely.
Motorists are advised to follow posted limits and the instructions of traffic personnel to ensure smooth and safe travel.
