The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Thursday, Feb. 26, that protest rallies near the People Power Monument were "generally peaceful."
On Wednesday, the Philippines commemorated the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution along EDSA Avenue.
QCPD Director PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio said no major untoward incidents were recorded during the gathering, despite a brief altercation between rallyists and law enforcement authorities.
PBGen. Silvio expressed gratitude to the local government of Quezon City, partner law enforcement agencies, force multipliers, and stakeholders for their cooperation in maintaining peace and order.
He also commended all QCPD personnel for their dedication and professionalism, noting that the event's success was made possible through close coordination with organizers, inter-agency collaboration, and careful strategic planning.
"This successful activity was conducted in accordance with the directive of PNP Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., and under the guidance of NCRPO Regional Director PMGen. Anthony Aberin. Through our collective efforts and the cooperation of the public, we successfully ensured a safe, peaceful, and orderly commemoration, and as a result, no major untoward incidents were reported," he said.
