PNP probes into operation of dismantled shabu lab in Valenzuela after P6.6 B drug bust
Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez. Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has ordered a thorough investigation to identify and hold accountable all those involved in the operation of a shabu laboratory which was earlier dismantled in Valenzuela City.
Around P6.6 billion worth of shabu and equipment were confiscated during the operation and Nartatez said the amount of the seized items would reveal a deep and wide network of the operation of the shabu lab.
Part of the investigation, he said, is to determine whether or not other illegal laboratories exist in the country that could potentially be linked to the one dismantled in Valenzuela City.
Operatives from the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) dismantled the large clandestine shabu laboratory inside a warehouse in Valenzuela City on Feb. 22.
Authorities confiscated 906.41 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P6.16 billion and 64.15 liters of liquid methamphetamine valued at P436.22 million.
The discovery of the shabu laboratory stemmed from a buy-bust that led to the arrest of a 30-year-old suspect who was caught selling 500 grams of shabu worth about P3.4 million to an undercover agent.
Nartatex emphasized that authorities are determined to catch other suspects involved in the operation.
“We will leave no stone unturned in tracking down every individual connected to this syndicate. This successful operation is proof that we will not allow illegal drugs to flood our streets and destroy the lives of our people,” Nartatez added.
