It takes more than good structure to make dependable luggage

For An Chieh Chiang, CEO of LOJEL, a piece that goes beyond customers' needs is the ultimate travel companion

For many, the spirit of traveling starts even before heading out the door. The excitement can be felt in planning the itinerary, researching the best spots to visit, and imagining moments to be spent there. That process includes packing everything—from the pieces one must wear to the essentials that go in the bag.

Curating items to bring on an adventure makes traveling more intentional and meaningful. With those pieces by travelers’ side, exploring becomes not just a journey through places, but a journey of personal style and comfort.
That is something LOJEL understands best: the transformative power that traveling can provide. Its brand name, which stands for “Let Our Journeys Enrich Life,” is a testament to its mission. Through its range of luggage, the global travel lifestyle brand helps turn every adventure into a seamless, stylish, and memorable experience.

To do that, LOJEL must go beyond the usual features luggage provides. During the opening of its first store in the Philippines last December, An Chieh Chiang, CEO of the brand, noted how important it is to understand how people travel today.
“What makes us different is how we put the customers at the forefront. We start with their needs and how they travel. That’s the best way to stay relevant,” An Chieh told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “One example is the Unique Serial ID (USID).”
LOJEL luggage often comes with a USID printed on the case. When people register their product with this USID on the myLOJEL platform, they unlock benefits like storing their proof of purchase digitally, priority support, and easier access to global service and warranty support.

Of course, the product must be able to accompany travelers on their different adventures. An example of this is the brand’s Cubo line, featuring an innovative flat-top opening that provides full access even in tight spaces. It also has a compression divider, helping organized packers sort and manage their essentials with ease.
The Voja line, however, is made for longer journeys. One of its innovative features is its zipperless design and three-point latching system, which keeps items safe. Despite its hard shell, the luggage is lightweight and durable thanks to its polypropylene construction, which resists cracks and scuffs trip after trip. The Voja also showcases LOJEL’s mastery in intentional design. It is made for repair, with replaceable parts that allow for more travel and less waste, ensuring that the piece can be part of many adventures.
“It is more about the product life,” An Chieh said. “We want to design pieces that are as effortless as possible. We want to make sure that they are as light as possible.”

Making things personal plays a big role in the lifestyle industry. For LOJEL, the opening of its first store in the Philippines allows travelers the option of customizing their bags and luggage. The Lab is the store’s dedicated area for maintenance and repair, where customers can personalize their luggage, add accessories, and ensure their pieces stay in top condition.
Since its founding in Japan in 1989, LOJEL has been dedicated to creating thoughtfully designed, durable, and repairable luggage that empowers travelers to move with intention. With the opening of its first Philippine store, it aims to expand its community of design-conscious travelers and “create travel companions that are purposeful, resilient, and beautifully designed.”
“For longtime LOJEL travelers around the world, this feels like coming home. And for those discovering the brand for the first time here in the Philippines, welcome to a new way of moving—intentional, enduring, and crafted for life on the go. This new store allows us to share that philosophy more closely with Filipino travelers,” An Chieh concluded.
LOJEL is located at Level 2, South Main Mall, SM Mall of Asia. Stay inspired by following @lojeljourneys on Instagram, and share your own journeys with #LojelPH and #LojelJourneys—because every adventure deserves a thoughtfully designed companion.
