A BARANGAY chairman was killed in an ambush in Bangued, Abra on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
BANGUED, Abra – A barangay chairman and his relative were killed and their companions were wounded in an ambush on the Calaba Bridge here on Tuesday night, Feb. 24.
Police identified the fatalities as Ezequiel Castañeda Parado, 35, chairman of Barangay Collago, Lagayan, Abra, and Arlene Dorias, also of Barangay Collago.
Wounded were Ailyn S. Parado, a municipal councilor of Lagayan, Edron Salingbay, driver, and Jaypee Gacayan, farmer.
Investigation said the victims were in a convoy of two vehicles headed to Barangay Mudeng, La Paz, Abra when unidentified gunmen onboard a white pickup truck appeared and fired at them.
Police rushed the victims to a hospital where two of them were declared dead.
Follow-up investigation and pursuit operations are ongoing.
