Megaworld ramps up Ilocos footprint with ₱2-billion luxury village
Top township developer Megaworld Corp. is expanding its footprint into Northern Luzon with the launch of a ₱2-billion beachside residential project in Ilocos Norte.
In a statement on Wednesday, Feb. 25, Megaworld said the development, dubbed Ilocandia Beach Village, serves as the first residential offering within the company’s 84-hectare Ilocandia Coastown in Laoag City.
The company said it will begin land development on the coastal site this year, focusing on primary road networks and essential infrastructure. The project is positioned as the first exclusive gated community in Laoag City to offer direct beach access, occupying 19.4 hectares of coastal land along the city’s western shoreline.
Megaworld plans to bring 446 residential lots to market, with sizes ranging from 230 square meters to 406 square meters. The developer expects to begin turning over these lots to owners by 2031.
The project’s aesthetic is modeled after the coastal atmosphere of Santa Monica, California, aimed at high-net-worth individuals seeking a mix of tropical lifestyle and high-end amenities.
May Santos, Meagworld head of sales and marketing for Ilocandia Coastown, said the development is designed to transform the local landscape by integrating the province’s natural coastline with a modern residential framework.
“We envision Ilocandia Beach Village transforming the landscape of the city by offering a unique and vibrant lifestyle that celebrates the beauty of Ilocandia’s stunning coastline,” Santos said.
The centerpiece of the village will be a two-story clubhouse featuring modern tropical architecture. This facility will house a fitness center, a movement studio, and a function hall capable of hosting 160 guests.
Outdoor amenities include a swimming pool equipped with a jacuzzi, a pool deck with cabanas, and an alfresco dining area. The clubhouse will connect directly to a central park designed for leisure and active recreation, featuring jogging paths, a picnic grove, and a multi-play court.
In an effort to maintain unobstructed views of the sea, Megaworld will install underground cabling for all electrical and telecommunications utilities. This marks a first for residential developments in Laoag City, where overhead power lines are the standard.
Additional community features include linear parks with fitness trails, a sand play area for children, a dedicated pet park with hydration stations, and an urban agricultural park featuring an interactive edible garden.
Ilocandia Coastown is situated approximately 15 minutes from the Laoag International Airport and 30 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Paoay Church.
The broader township is designed to function as a tourism and business hub, incorporating a lifestyle mall, hotels, a shophouse district, and a 1.4-kilometer stretch of beach located adjacent to the Fort Ilocandia Hotel.
