E-commerce enterprise builder GENCYS Group Inc. and product innovation firm JSR Group have formed a new joint venture, Builders Hatchery Inc., aiming to streamline brand creation for Filipino entrepreneurs by providing market-ready consumer goods.
The partnership is designed to bypass the traditional hurdles of product formulation, testing, and regulatory compliance, allowing business owners to launch brands without the logistical burden of manufacturing setups.
Unlike conventional business incubators that focus on early-stage ideation, Builders Hatchery begins with validated products that have already undergone research-led development through JSR Group. These goods are subjected to third-party laboratory testing and have secured Food and Drug Administration approval before they are offered for commercialization.
The venture leverages GENCYS’ existing integrated ecosystem, which includes automation systems, warehousing, fulfillment, and logistics. By providing access to this infrastructure, the joint venture allows partners to scale rapidly without the capital expenditure typically required for backend operations.
“Our goal is to remove friction,” said Hernani Razon, Visionary and Chief Financial Officer of GENCYS Group. “Many entrepreneurs already know how to sell, but product development and operations slow them down. Builders Hatchery Inc. allows them to focus on execution while the system handles the complexity.”
For Jonah Sison Ramos, Chief Executive Officer of JSR Group, the collaboration addresses a structural gap in the local consumer market where compliance often lags behind demand.
She noted that by ensuring products are market-ready before they reach an entrepreneur’s hands, the venture reduces the financial and reputational risks for both the brand owner and the end consumer.
The venture adopts a portfolio approach, offering transformational options across high-growth categories such as skincare and wellness. This strategy allows partners to select products that align with specific market niches while utilizing a standardized process that keeps costs predictable.
Under the current Philippine economic climate, where digital retail continues to expand, the companies expect the initiative to lower the barriers to entry for brand ownership and contribute to local job creation.
While the companies did not disclose the specific investment amount for the venture, the partnership signals a shift toward "plug-and-play" entrepreneurship in the Philippine retail sector. The move comes as more local sellers seek to move away from third-party reselling toward owning proprietary intellectual property.
