Choco Mucho tries to end its string of misfortunes even as Capital1 aims to regain its footing when they tangle with separate rivals on Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Centre in San Juan City.
The Flying Titans take on the Galeries Tower Highrisers still riding on a morale boost at 6:30 p.m., while the Solar Spikers square off against the Farm Fresh Foxies in the 4 p.m. opener.
After opening the tournament with a straight-set victory over Akari, Choco Mucbo stumbled in its next three outings, with the most recent against Capital1 in five sets last week.
But the Flying Titans, who boast of depth and experience, are determined to get back on track with Sisi Rondina out to lead their attack along with Kat Tolentino and Des Cheng.
More than their offensive output -- where the trio combined for 56 points the last time out -- Choco Mucho still needs to toughen its end-game resolve while also cutting down on errors in order to regain its winning ways.
However, expect Galeries Tower to give Choco Mucho a run for its money, especially after a morale-boosting four-set victory over fancied Nxled a few days ago that evened its record at 2-2.
Setter Julia Coronel is expected to orchestrate the offense and activate her spikers Erika Deloria, Roselle Baliton, Jean Asis and Gayle Pascual to test Choco Mucho’s defense.
Meanwhile, Capital1 hopes to shake off the sting of a straight-set loss to Creamline despite Bella Belen’s 26-point explosion.
Dropping to a 2-3 mark, the Solar Spikers needed ample support for Belen as no other player scored more than four points in their last match.
In contrast, Farm Fresh aims to extend its winning run to three games and improve its 2-2 record in the middle standings with Trisha Tubu and Jolina Dela Cruz out to spearhead the crew.
