To say that Lanao del Sur 1st district Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong gave zero evidentiary value to the 18 Marine-bagmen's affidavit is a huge understatement. In fact, he linkened it to "cow manure".
"Actually, I think I...I don't think they deserve a decent answer from me," Adiong said on Wednesday, Feb. 25 when he was asked to react to allegations that a select group of former and current congressmen received "luggages of cash" sourced from anomalous flood control projects.
The Marine-bagmen claimed that they made such deliveries to these politicians during a press conference Tuesday, Feb. 24. Lawyer Levi Baligod led the presser.
"It's all BS. I mean, it's all BS. Ang hirap kasi mag-argue sa isang kasinungalingan (It's hard to argue with a lie). How do you even argue with lies?" said the perplexed and visibly annoyed Adiong.
The solons and ex-solons named in the affidavit of the supposed bagmen were mostly composed of House quad-committee (quad-comm) chairmen, "Young Guns" bloc members, and Makabayan bloc members.
Their common denominator? They either led or heavily participated in House inquries that dissected--in aid of legislation--the allegations lodged against either former president Rodrigo Duterte or his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte.
Adiong highlighted that the vaunted affidavit--which had been making rounds on social media--wasn't even signed.
"Some of them are not even...have not even entered officially the service. And some of them actually were discharged dishonorably. So there you go," the Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms chairman said of the supposed Marines.
"So... Wag nang patulan. Yeah, parang...I mean, it's all BS. I'm sorry (So...Let's not bother with it. Yeah, it's like...I mean, it's all BS. I'm sorry)," Adiong said.
