PEOPLE avail of services in a medical mission in Davao City spearheaded by Rep. Omar Duterte.
DAVAO CITY – Two-hundred residents of Barangay Lasang here received free healthcare services on Wednesday, Feb. 25, during the medical mission led by Davao City second district Rep. Omar S. Duterte.
Duterte provided free medical checkups, X-ray services, laboratory tests, and medicines for residents with limited access to clinics and hospitals.
Barangay Lasang Chairman Allan Simo-ag said the initiative was a significant assistance to the community, noting that Lasang is situated far from medical facilities.
“This is a big help, especially since our barangay is far from clinics and hospitals. With this medical mission, many of our residents were able to benefit,” Simo-ag said.
Organizers said the activity is part of Duterte’s ongoing efforts to bring essential healthcare services closer to underserved communities, especially since hospital laboratory tests and medicines are expensive.
The lawmaker’s office said similar medical missions will be conducted in other barangays in the city to improve healthcare access and promote preventive care across the district.
Meanwhile, Duterte distributed sacks of rice to six mosques in the second district to support Muslim communities during Ramadan – Datu Anduhol Masjid in San Isidro, Datu Bansil Masjid in Tibungco, Masjid Abdul in Sasa, Masjid Huda in Ilang, Masjid Abdullah in Tigatto, and Masjid Proper Waan in Waan.
Duterte personally delivered the rice to ensure assistance reached intended recipients. Mosque leaders and community members thanked Duterte, saying the staple would support families, particularly during Ramadan.
First district Rep. Paolo Duterte, in partnership with Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II, also conducted a similar humanitarian activity in the first district Muslim communities.
Vice Mayor Duterte personally turned over 216 sacks of rice and canned goods to seven mosque administrators and community leaders on Saturday, Feb. 21 – Mercy Islamic Center on Aurora Quezon St. in Barangay 24-C; Al-Masjidussallam in Purok 20, Sanggillangan Center, Ma-a; Al-Masjid Jamo (Al-Masjidul Jamio-Iranun) in Lower Sanggillangan, Ma-a; Masjid Nurol Huda in Upper Sanggillangan, Ma-a; Ma-a Islamic Mosque in Gem Village, Lower Sanggillangan; Datu Loho Mosque in Datu Loho Village, Ma-a; and Masjid Padaman in Padaman Riverside, Ma-a.
Forty-one more mosques across the city will receive the same food supply this week under the program initiated by Rep. Paolo and Vice Mayor Duterte.
