The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Region 1 (Ilocos) reported on Wednesday that two towns in Pangasinan tested positive for red tide.
Laboratory results said shellfish samples collected from the coastal waters of Bolinao and Anda, Pangasinan yielded positive findings.
The BFAR advised people to temporarily refrain from harvesting, selling, and consuming shellfish and “alamang” from affected areas.
Fish, squid, crabs, and shrimp remain safe for consumption provided they are fresh, properly cleaned, with internal organs removed, and thoroughly washed before cooking, BFAR said.
The BFAR assured continuous monitoring of the area for red tide to ensure public safety.
