President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (RTVM)
President Marcos said he will not endorse a candidate soon, even as he revealed that he has started talking to some officials and personalities to be the administration's bet in the next presidential polls.
"Not soon. Timing is everything," Marcos said on Tuesday, Feb. 24, when asked if he will be endorsing a candidate for the 2028 elections soon.
Without naming names, Marcos also revealed that he has started talking to personalities who could be the administration's bet for the next presidential elections.
He also bared that some of them have already said no.
"We have some people that we are talking to and in mind, and many of them actually, some of them said 'no, I don't want'," Marcos said when asked about it during the fireside chat at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Editors and Economic Opinion Leaders Forum.
While he didn't divulge more about the personalities he has talked to, he hinted that there are exceptional officials in the government now.
"So, you look at people in government, and you see who is doing well, who is exceptional. And I'm glad to say, we have exceptional people in government," he said.
During the forum, Marcos was also asked who to vote for in 2028. He responded that it should be someone who does not think about politics, but about how to make the Philippines better.
