Fair weather to prevail over most of the Philippines until end of February
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, Feb. 24 said fair weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the Philippines until the end of the month as the easterlies remain the dominant weather system affecting the country.
PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said cloud clusters associated with the easterlies are currently mostly affecting Palawan and parts of Mindanao.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may occur over Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mainly due to localized thunderstorm activity.
Torres said no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is being monitored within or near the Philippine area of responsibility as of Tuesday.
Fair weather will prevail over most of the country on Wednesday, Feb. 25, she added.
By Thursday, Feb. 26, fair weather is expected to prevail over a large portion of Luzon.
On Friday, Feb. 27, Torres said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” may begin again affecting extreme Northern Luzon, although fair weather conditions are still expected across most areas, except for possible light rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
By Saturday, Feb. 28, the amihan may strengthen again and influence a wider portion of Luzon, but fair weather is still expected to continue, with only chances of light rains.
