Mayor Nancy warns public against fake socmed pages posing as Makati LGU

Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay cautioned the public to be wary of fake social media pages posing as the city government and its offices for illegal practices on Monday, Feb. 23.

Binay made the statement following reports of a fraudulent scheme in which individuals use her name or the city administrator and their respective offices to solicit unauthorized donations from the public.

"The Makati City Government does not authorize or conduct any donation solicitation through private bank accounts, personal mobile numbers, or informal communication channels. Any representation claiming to be from the officials of the city government for the purpose of collecting funds via these methods is a scam and is unauthorized," Binay said.

"Be vigilant. Do not share your personal information or send money to any individual or account claiming to represent the city through unofficial channels," she added.

The mayor urged those who have encountered or received such solicitations to report them immediately to the Makati Police at 8887-6642/0905-3306480/0929-7936525.
