Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Monday announced the release of P7,000 clothing allowance for 8,543 regular employees of the City Government of Manila, with more than P66.8 million allocated for the benefit.
Speaking during the weekly flag-raising ceremony at Manila City Hall on Feb. 23, Domagoso said the allowance would be given in cash instead of uniforms to allow employees to use it based on their needs.
“Imbes na ibili ko kayo ng bagong uniporme, pinabuti ng inyong lingkod na ibigay na lang sa inyo nang cash ‘yung P7,000 (Instead of purchasing new uniforms for you, your servant decided it would be better to give the P7,000 in cash),” he said.
The mayor also announced that 1,063 employees who were unable to receive their clothing allowances from 2021 to 2025 would now be paid.
City records showed that 10 employees missed the benefit in 2021, 62 in 2022, 131 in 2023, 181 in 2024, and 679 in 2025.
“Kung sino ka man ‘yung humigit kumulang isang libo mahigit na hindi nakakuha makukuha mo na ‘yan (Whoever you are among the more than one thousand employees who did not receive it, you will now get it),” Domagoso said.
He added that the remaining payroll releases are scheduled from Feb. 24 to 27 to ensure that all eligible personnel receive their benefits.
Meanwhile, Domagoso also assured Job Order and Contract of Service personnel under the Manila Health Department and city-run hospitals that their delayed January salaries would be released within the week.
“We changed the charging. ‘Yung charging of salary from General Fund inilipat natin sa Trust Fund ng health fund natin (We changed the charging. The salary charging from the General Fund was transferred to our health fund Trust Fund),” he explained.
“Rest assured, this week may sweldo na kayo. Nagkadelay delay sila dahil lang sa papeles at charging. Nothing more, nothing less (Rest assured, you will receive your salary this week. The delay was only due to paperwork and charging adjustments. Nothing more, nothing less),” he added.
Domagoso said the city government continues to ensure proper and lawful funding while safeguarding the welfare of its employees.
