How sustained partnerships empower post-disaster social recovery

As different cities across the Visayas continue to recover from a series of natural calamities, Cebu Landmasters, Inc. (CLI) reaffirms a core guiding principle: development goes beyond construction, which means standing by the community in times of need.
Through the CLI Foundation, Cebu Landmasters extended at least PHP 11.6 million in cash and in-kind support to communities affected by the September 2025 earthquake in Northern Cebu and Typhoon Tino in November. The assistance reached an estimated 46,828 individuals from over 11,000 families, providing immediate relief while supporting recovery and rehabilitation efforts in the months that followed.
This effort reflects CLI’s commitment to the communities where it operates. Through the CLI Foundation, the company supports long-term rebuilding by combining humanitarian response with engineering expertise and infrastructure support.
Rebuilding Communities Together
Following the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Northern Cebu late last year, CLI immediately deployed relief assistance across affected communities in Bogo City and the Municipality of San Remigio. The company donated household essentials and tents, serving as provisional shelter in LGU office grounds, hospitals, and church compounds.
In Bogo City, particularly in Barangays La Paz and Binabag, the company distributed blue sacks, sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets, potable water, and food provisions to 519 families, many of whom were displaced by landslides. The company also extended additional food assistance to 300 residents of Villa Casita North, CLI’s economic housing development in Brgy. Lapaz.
Beyond relief distribution, CLI mobilized its engineering teams to conduct structural integrity checks and safety assessments of community facilities, including the Holy Family of Nazareth Parish and Villa Casita North. The listed company has since committed to assisting in repair works for the parish, underscoring the role of technical expertise in recovery efforts.
In San Remigio, Cebu, CLI supported the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s Bayanihan Village project by furnishing four modular shelter units for displaced families and providing drinking water for 67 families
Through these efforts, the company helps bridge the transition from displacement to stability.
Restoring Hope After Typhoon Tino
In the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, CLI provided immediate deployment to support infrastructure clearing and restore road access in heavily affected areas. Working with partner communities and local governments, the company assisted in road obstruction removal, debris hauling, and mud-clearing operations across an estimated 3,500 linear meters of affected roadways.
Heavy equipment such as dump trucks and backhoes, along with construction personnel, were deployed to clear flood residue and general waste to help restore mobility, sanitation and access to basic services in parts of Danao City, Liloan, and Barangay Talamban in Cebu City.
In Southern Cebu, additional flood mitigation efforts were ramped up to assist in river dredging and river flow restoration following a landslide in downstream communities along the Manduang River in Minglanilla. CLI deployed technical crews and heavy equipment to clear any obstruction and restore the river’s natural flow, reducing the risk of further damage.
CLI also provided drinking water to 9,314 families in affected barangays in Cebu City, Danao, Minglanila, and Liloan.
Building Resilience in 2026 and Beyond
As the new year begins, CLI, through CLI Foundation’s work, remains dedicated to uplifting the lives of the community while building climate-resilient and sustainable developments.
A key part of its long-term pledge for safety and resilience is assisting in riverbank rehabilitation through bamboo planting along the Cotcot-Lusaran riverways, an initiative aimed at strengthening riverbanks and mitigating future flooding risks.
This long-term plan reflects CLI’s belief that resilience is built over time. Through sustained partnerships with LGUs, national agencies, contractors, and the communities themselves, the company empowers its people and gives them hope for a better tomorrow as they continue to rebuild their lives.
“For us at Cebu Landmasters, we believe that our responsibility doesn’t end at relief efforts,” said Jose R. Soberano III, Chairman and CEO of Cebu Landmasters, Inc. “Through CLI Foundation, we commit our resources, expertise, and partnerships to help communities rebuild in a way that is safer, more resilient, and sustainable over the long term. This is part of our responsibility as a developer rooted in the communities we serve.”
Through CLI Foundation, CLI has consistently spearheaded initiatives that go beyond disaster response, focusing on education, livelihood opportunities, and programs that create pathways for long-term social and economic development among its communities. The property developer believes that community recovery must be a sustained responsibility anchored on continued and empowering engagement.
