At Mitsubishi Motors Corporation’s Global Service Skills Contest 2025 finals, held in December 2025 at Tokyo Ryutsu Center in Tokyo, Japan, the Philippines secured the championship in the Service Advisor Contest. Raymond Rivera of Carworld, Inc. took the title against service advisor finalists from 15 other participating countries.

The Global Service Skills Contest is a Mitsubishi Motors Corporation-organized competition in Japan, where distributors field representatives across aftersales disciplines. Rivera’s path to the Tokyo finals began with a win at the Mitsubishi Skills Olympics in January 2025, followed by a preparation phase that started in July 2025. Coaching support came from Allan Veraque Jr., MMPC’s Non-Technical Training Senior Supervisor.
The Service Advisor Contest combined a written and thinking segment with a roleplay designed to mirror the realities of front-line aftersales work. The written portion included a matching-type examination and an essay task built around service scenarios, where recommendations had to be formed using inputs such as customer profile, preventive maintenance service requirements, vehicle condition, and customer lifestyle.
The roleplay simulated the complete service advisor process, from pre-delivery steps through vehicle delivery and handover. Evaluation covered verification aligned with preventive maintenance requests, cleanliness checks, and confirmation of replaced parts. The delivery phase required clear explanation of completed work, a walk-through of the repair order and bill of materials, a vehicle walkaround, and customer guidance that included safety reminders, care tips, the next preventive maintenance schedule, and follow-up direction, capped by a professional send-off.
MMPC Aftersales Executive Vice President Toko Imai said, “This win reflects the strength of our people and our commitment to customer-first service. With Raymond’s performance, he showed to the world that when technical excellence is combined with genuine care for the customer, Filipino service professionals can truly excel on the global stage.”

Veraque underscored daily consistency as the difference-maker during the build-up to Japan. “Preparation is really about showing up every day. Regardless of energy or mood, you still show up—that’s what makes the difference. And Raymond did exactly that. By consistently showing up to training for months, he was able to internalize all the lessons,” he said.
Rivera’s win places a spotlight on the service advisor role as a customer-facing discipline that blends process control, communication, and credibility at handover. In MMPC’s framing, the result also reflects sustained investment in training and coaching aimed at raising dealership aftersales standards to a level that can compete internationally.
