QCPD launches 'Project Hilamos' clean up in Maginhawa street
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) led a cleanup and repainting drive along Maginhawa Street on Saturday, Feb. 21, as part of “Project Hilamos,” an initiative aimed at promoting cleaner and safer public spaces.
Mayor Joy Belmonte joined QCPD personnel and barangay officials in the activity, which covered portions of Lot 141 along Maginhawa Street in Barangay Sikatuna and 76 Maginhawa Street in Barangay Teachers Village East.
The project involved repainting vandalized walls and transforming neglected areas into artworks intended to promote discipline, safety, and community pride.
It also supports the city’s “Walkable City” initiative, which seeks to make public spaces more pedestrian- and child-friendly.
Belmonte expressed her support for the local arts community while drawing a firm line against vandalism.
QCPD Director, Police Brigadier General Randy Glenn Silvio led the ceremonial wall painting, joined by Chief of Staff Rowena Macatao and barangay chairpersons Lolita Singson, Michelle Cruz, and Anna Rosero. Members of various civic and force multiplier groups also took part in the activity.
In a statement, Silvio thanked the mayor for backing the initiative.
“Taos-pusong pasasalamat sa ating butihing Mayor Joy Belmonte sa kanyang buong suporta sa Project HILAMOS. Asahan po ninyo na makakatulong ang programang ito sa pagpapanatili ng kalinisan at ng mas walkable at friendly na Quezon City para sa bawat QCitizen (Our sincere gratitude to our good Mayor Joy Belmonte for her full support of Project HILAMOS. We hope that this program will help maintain cleanliness and make Quezon City more walkable and friendly for every QCitizen),” he said.
Barangay officials from Teachers Village East, including Chairperson Lolita Singson and several councilors, also joined the drive, along with representatives from civic organizations and the PNP OLC Foundation Inc.
City officials said Project Hilamos is part of broader efforts to strengthen collaboration between the police and local communities while enhancing the appearance and orderliness of neighborhoods across Quezon City.
