Personnel will be deployed for civil disturbance management and area and route security during the celebration.
An additional 237 personnel from the District Headquarters will be on standby, while four EPD city police stations remain ready for deployment as needed.
The EPD said deployed personnel will undergo thorough briefings to ensure proper response to any situation. The K9 Unit will also be fully utilized amid potential threats from lawless elements and criminals who may attempt to exploit the event.
“Police presence will be intensified through foot and mobile patrols, checkpoints, and strategic deployment at critical times and locations,” EPD said.
Police Assistance Desks (PADs) will also be established in key convergence points, and force multipliers will assist in traffic management and visibility.
“Vital installations will implement target-hardening measures, while counter-intelligence and police operations will be intensified to prevent unlawful activities,” it added.
To ensure that preparations are complete ahead of the event, EPD District Director Brig. Gen. Aden T. Lagradante, together with the EPD Command Group and C, DOPD, conducted an ocular inspection at EDSA Shrine.
“Let us intensify all police operations and maximize available resources and manpower to ensure that the EDSA People Power Anniversary celebration will be peaceful,” Lagradante said.
He also reminded all personnel to be alert and vigilant at all times to ensure peace and order during the EDSA People Power Anniversary.
The event commemorates the historic milestones of People Power, a highly regarded success of the country’s freedom and democracy in 1986 along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).
Meanwhile, the EPD said anti-criminality operations in Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan will continue uninterrupted.
