BLACKPINK becomes first artist worldwide to reach 100 million subscribers on YouTube
K-pop girl group BLACKPINK achieved a new milestone by becoming the first artist worldwide to reach 100 million subscribers on YouTube.
BLACKPINK achieved the feat at about 7:31 p.m. KST on Feb. 20, their agency, YG Entertainment, announced.
Their new feat came about nine years and eight months after they launched their YouTube channel on June 29, 2016.
“BLINKs, you did it! A massive congratulations to @BLACKPINK for reaching 100 MILLION subscribers on YouTube!” YouTube congratulated BLACKPINK on X.
BLACKPINK reached 10 million subscribers in August 2018 or more than seven years ago. In July 2020, they were in the top five most subscribed artist list on YouTube.
In September 2021, BLACPINK became the No. 1 most subscribed artist in the world on YouTube and reached 70 million subscribers on Nov. 28, 2021.
As of this writing, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has 649 videos with total views of 41.19 billion or an average of 63.47 million views per video.
They are No. 1 on YouTube’s official all-time most subscribed official artist channel.
Last November, Guinness World Records listed BLACKPINK as holding the record for most subscribers for a band on YouTube.
“This also makes BLACKPINK the most subscribed music act overall on YouTube,” and “BLACKPINK are also the most viewed band on YouTube,” according to the Guinness entry.
For their feat, BLACKPINK received the Red Diamond Button awarded by YouTube for creators who reached 100 million subscribers.
In a video uploaded on YouTube, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo celebrated their feat.
Jisoo said, “The BLACKPINK YouTube channel has become the first official artist channel in the world to reach 100 million subscribers. Celebrating this, we received YouTube's Red Diamond Button.”
“We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has always shown interest in our music and supported us with so much love. We're especially hap that we achieved this incredible record together with our BLINKS,” said Jennie.
Rosé said, “We are so excited to receive the Red Diamond Button. Oh my gosh celebrating 100 million subscribers on the BLACKPINK YouTube channel. This milestone is especially meaningful as we are apparently the first official artist channel to reach 100 million subscribers on YouTube. This is crazy.”
“Thank you to everyone at YouTube for all your support and for creating a space to connect with our fans from all around the world. Most of all, thank you, BLINKS, for watching, listening and growing with us every step of the way. We wouldn't be here without you,” said Lisa.
There are nine videos on BLACKPINK’s Youtube channel that have achieved at least one billion views. These are “Pink Venom,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” “How You Like That” dance performance, “How You Like That” music video, “BOOMBAYAH,” “As If It’s Your Last,” Lisa’s solo track “Money” exclusive performance video. and Jennie’s solo track “Solo”
The 100-million subscriber achievement came ahead of the release of BLACKPINK’s third mini-album “Deadline” on Feb. 27.
