BI arrests 3 foreigners for false identity, overstaying, sans documents
Three foreigners have been arrested in Paranaque City by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for using false identity, for overstaying, and for being an undocumented alien.
The BI said the three foreigners were apprehended last Feb. 16 by operatives of the bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in coordination with the Paranaque City Police Intelligence Section, and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).
Those arrested were identified by the BI as Fang Li, 36; Chen Youliang, 38, and Xu Yuxiang, 39.
The BI said that Fang was found engaged in illicit activities and was reportedly using the identity of another Chinese national.
It said its records showed that Fang last entered the Philippines in 2022 as a temporary visitor, but failed to apply for any visa extension or conversion and is therefore classified as an overstaying alien.
Chen has been the subject of an active blacklist order and has been issued an order to leave for violations of the conditions of his visa, the BI said.
At the time of his arrest, Chen failed to present a valid passport or immigration documents, therefore rendering him as an undocumented alien.
Xu, on the other hand, was found to be an overstaying alien as her last recorded visa extension expired in 2020, the BI said.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado vowed that the BI will not tolerate attempts by foreign nationals to evade immigration laws by using false identities, without valid documents, and for overstaying.
“Foreign nationals who attempt to circumvent our laws through aliases, fraudulent identities, or expired visas will be apprehended and deported,” Viado warned.
Those arrested have been detained at the BI facility pending their deportation.
