ILOILO CITY – More than 1,700 security personnel have been deployed to secure the 49th meeting of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) economic ministers in this city on from Feb. 24 to 27.
“We trust in your abilities, we believe in your commitment, and we are truly proud of the dedication you consistently show in the performance of your responsibilities,” said Police Regional Office-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan during the send-off ceremony on Friday, Feb. 20, in Camp Delgado here.
A total of 1,707 security personnel were deployed and 1,547 are police officers from the PRO-6, majority from
Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) led by Police Col. Wilbert Parilla.
One-hundred sixty are from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The city government said delegates are in capable hands.
“I know that Iloilo City is in capable hands. As your city government, we will remain fully committed to doing our part to ensure that this ASEAN-related event will be peaceful, orderly, and well managed,” Iloilo City Councilor Sedfrey Cabaluna, representing Mayor Raisa Treñas, said.
