CEBU CITY – A 28-year-old man died while two others were wounded in shooting incidents in Cebu.
In Balamban town, a 54-year-old barangay councilor was wounded when he was shot inside his home around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19.
Renato Pacquiao Tribunalo was wounded in the left side of the chest.
Police said Tribunalo was repairing his airconditioning unit inside his home in Barangay Cantuod when a man barged in and without a word opened fire.
The assailant fled on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice while the victim was rushed to the town hospital.
Police were able to secure security camera footage showing the assailants fleeing away from the crime scene.
Investigation is ongoing to identify the culprits and determine possible motives of the attack, police said.
In Toledo City, police are eyeing a love triangle as a possible motive in the killing of one Joven Soria past 8 p.m. on Friday night, Feb. 20.
Witnesses told the police that Soria, a resident of Barangay Bunga, Toledo, was chased by another man before he was shot.
A 37-year-old man who happened to be in the area was also wounded after a stray bullet hit him in the leg.
Police said Soria was declared dead when he was brought to the hospital.
Police Master Sgt. Mark Anthony Arañez, investigator of the Toledo Police Station, said that apart from the love triangle, illegal connections are also being looked into as a possible motive of the crime.
