Gwyn Dorado to visit PH as judge at 'Everyone's KPOP: Battle of the Champions'
Korea-based Filipino singing sensation Gwyn Dorado will be returning to the Philippines to serve as a judge at a K-pop dance cover contest in March.
The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines will hold the “Everyone’s KPOP: Battle of the Champions” on March 4 at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
On Feb. 20, KCC Philippines announced that Dorado and K-pop choreographer Ciel Oh will serve as judges at the competition, joining choreographer Lia Kim.
“From stage experience to technical mastery, they’re bringing sharp eyes, high standards, and real K-pop performance expertise to the judging table. Expect precision. Expect passion. Expect no easy wins,” KCC Philippines posted on Facebook.
Dorado has gained attention in South Korea after finishing in second place on the Korean TV channel JTBC’s singing competition “Sing Again 4,” which aired from October to January.
She has impressed the Korean judges, audience and netizens for her powerful voice and rendition of Korean songs during the competition.
After the show, Dorado joined other finalists for the “Sing Again 4” National Concert Tour.
The “Everyone’s KPOP: Battle of the Champions” will have “the best K-pop dance champions in the Philippines. This edition gathers top-winning teams from recent competitions to compete for the ultimate title,” according to KCC Philippines.
Eligible to join are teams that won first to third place from any K-pop cover dance contest in the Philippines within the last six years or from 2020 to 2025.
The grand champion will win seven roundtrip tickets to Korea and P50,000.
Groups will be judged in the final based on dance accuracy and synchronization, 40 percent; stage presence and energy, 40 percent; costume and styling, 10 percent; and audience impact, 10 percent.
The submission of entries will be until Feb. 22.
