DBP grants ₱3.5-billion loan to Camarines Sur
State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has signed a ₱3.5-billion term loan facility with Camarines Sur to finance priority development projects and boost economic growth in the largest province in Bicol Region.
DBP President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael O. de Jesus said the funding support under the Assistance for Economic and Social Development (ASENSO) financing program for local government units (LGUs) will bankroll a total of 112 projects in Camarines Sur.
Based on the lender’s statement released on Friday, Feb. 20, the projects cover the construction of healthcare centers, hospitals, school buildings, roads, and agricultural facilities.
De Jesus said the lender takes pride in supporting Camarines Sur in projects aimed at improving the lives of the province’s two million residents, including infrastructure development, better healthcare services, enhanced education, and wider access to social services and livelihood programs.
De Jesus said the ASENSO program provides financing to LGUs for projects that support infrastructure and socio-economic development in line with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP).
DBP said it is looking to forge similar partnerships with other LGUs and will continue to support initiatives that sustain or accelerate local development.
As of end-November 2025, DBP has approved more than ₱165 billion in loans for 451 borrowers under the ASENSO program.
De Jesus said the lender intends to expand the scope and scale of the assistance it provides to its LGU partners. (Derco Rosal)
