Danao City strengthened their disaster preparedness and emergency response capability with a P14-million rescue boat.
The Danao Rescue 211 Boat is a 36-feet double-hull fiberglass boat complete with navigational equipment, radio communication, and search lights.
The boat is powered by a twin 325 horsepower four-stroke outboard engine and can accommodate up to 25 passengers.
It was purchased for P13.9 million using the city’s disaster risk reduction and management funds.
Mayor Nito Durano, Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Jikjik Reyes checked the boat’s capability through a test drive.
“This is an added equipment that will provide us with a faster water emergency response. This is also a key acquisition for possible conduct of search and rescue operations, medical evacuations, and other calamities,” said Mayor Durano.
The mayor added that acquiring the rescue boat is just one of the major steps that aims to provide reliable service to Danawanons.
