Grade 8 student hurt in Marikina robbery-snatching; 2 suspects nabbed
A Grade 8 student was injured after resisting a man who snatched his mobile phone while waiting for a jeepney on the way to school in Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City, on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
According to the Marikina City Police Station, the incident occurred around 6:48 a.m. at the corner of Rainbow Street and Panganiban Street.

Authorities said the victim was waiting for a jeepney when the suspect, identified as “Buboy,” suddenly appeared from behind and snatched the mobile phone he was holding.
Police said the victim tried to resist, but the suspect forcefully pulled the phone, causing him to fall on the ground and sustain abrasions on his knee.
The suspect then ran to his accomplice, “Pipoy,” who was waiting on a motorcycle, and both fled the scene.
The victim immediately sought help from personnel of the Concepcion Dos Police Sub-Station, who were patrolling nearby. Authorities quickly conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the two suspects. The victim's phone worth P35,000 was also recovered.
The student was brought to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for his immediate medical treatment for his sustained injuries.
Based on further investigation, authorities discovered that suspect "Buboy" had previously been arrested and detained for violations of Republic Act 9165, BP 6, and PD 1602, while suspect "Pipoy" had previously been arrested and detained for violations of PD 1602 and RA 9165.
The suspects are temporarily detained at the Marikina City Police Station Custodial Facility and will face robbery charges as well as violations of Section 9 of RA 11235.
