House Committee on Foreign Affairs member FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe met with Ukrainian Ambassador Yuliia Fediv to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation between the Philippines and Ukraine.
During their discussion, both sides explored potential bilateral connections in agriculture, labor, and humanitarian assistance.
They also underscored the importance of establishing inter-parliamentary cooperation between the House of Representatives and the Embassy of Ukraine to further enhance diplomatic engagement and collaboration between the two countries, in time for the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) 2026 chaired by House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III.
“The Philippines has always believed in being a friend to all and an enemy to none. This meeting with Ukrainian ambassador was rooted in humanitarian concern, and the shared goal of economic cooperation that benefits both our peoples," Poe said.
"This meeting aims to promote peace, protect civilians, and strengthen agriculture, labor opportunities, and long-term development partnerships,” said the neophyte congressman.
Following the meeting, Fediv, together with Col. Andrii Bilenkyi, Ukraine’s Defense Attaché, joined Poe in reaffirming avenues for constructive engagement.
The party-list lawmaker also shared that he had previously extended support to the humanitarian efforts of the Order of St. George in Ukraine.
In recognition of his contribution, the international non-governmental organization awarded him a medal, which was formally given to him by the envoy. The medal symbolizes appreciation for Poe’s support and solidarity for civilians and refugees affected by the war.
Poe emphasized that the Philippines remains guided by a principled and humanitarian foreign policy anchored on peace, cooperation, and mutual respect.
Poe and Fediv confirmed their firm commitment to pursuing collaborative initiatives that will deepen ties between the Philippines and Ukraine while advancing stability, prosperity, and people-centered cooperation.
