CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte – Two construction workers were killed and four others were injured in an accidental electrocution in Barangay Tapao-Tigue here on Thursday morning, Feb. 19.
Police Capt. Melvin P. Soriano, chief of police of Currimao, said the incident occurred at around 8 a.m.
Investigation showed that the victims were transferring four-layered steel scaffolding in a warehouse they were constructing when it accidentally touched a live wire of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC).
They were electrocuted and two victims sustained severe burns and were declared dead on the spot. Four injured workers taken to a hospital.
The victims were all residents of this town.
Soriano advised laborers to exercise extra caution, particularly when working near live electrical wires, to prevent similar incidents.
