Solo but sweet: Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino's unique Valentine's Day celebrations
Valentine’s Day just got a twist for rumored sweethearts Kapamilya stars Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino—they celebrated the day of hearts... apart.
But don’t worry—there’s no drama. The pair simply had their own adventures planned for Feb. 14.
"I watched Netflix on Valentine's Day," said Kim as she smiled when asked how she celebrated Valentine's Day during the grand media conference of the series "The Alibi" at the ABS- CBN compound.
Paulo, sharing his answer to the same question, said, "Bahay lang din. May meeting, and then may inaral ako para sa isang role. Yun lang. (Just at home. There was a meeting, and then I studied for a role. That's all.)"
But Kim said she was grateful for the flowers Paulo gave her, adding that she appreciated them so much.
When she received the flowers, Kim told herself, 'Girl pala ako. (I'm a girl)." Kim explained what she meant by her reaction.
"Ang dami kasing babae na naglalakad sa daan noon araw na yun. So galing ako sa Showtime. Sabi ko, ang dami namang babaeng may hawak na bulaklak. Super naman sila sa pagka-long hair. Pag-uwi ko ng bahay, may flowers din pala ako. Girl pala ako. (There were so many women walking on the street that day. So I came from 'Showtime.' I said, 'There were so many women holding flowers. They make their hair long. When I got home, I had flowers too. I'm a girl)."
"Nakaka-girl talaga kapag binigyan ka ng flowers on Valentine's Day. Hindi naman yan kung gaano kalaki yung bulaklak or marami. It's the thought that counts na naalala ka. (It really makes you feel like a girl when you get flowers on Valentine's Day. It's not how big the flowers are or how many there are. It's the thought that counts, that you're remembered)," she said.
Paulo also said he was happy that Kim was excited about the flowers. "Masaya ako na masaya siya. (I'm happy that she's happy)."
Kim reminded supporters to cherish the happy moments in life.
"Happy din ako. We have to be happy every day kasi hindi natin alam kung ano ang mangyayari sa atin bukas o sa susunod na taon. Kung ano man ang nagpapasaya sa'yo ngayon, i-cherish mo. (I'm happy too. We have to be happy every day because we don't know what will happen to us tomorrow or next year. Whatever makes you happy today, cherish it)," she said.
