A man was robbed, slashed on the left eye, and was almost stabbed by a robber in Barangay Muntindilaw, Antipolo City, last Feb. 15, the Antipolo City Component Police Station reported.
Based on the police investigation, the victim was on his way home in Sitio Manggahan when the knife-wielding suspect suddenly approached him and forcibly took his P300 cash.
The robber then slashed the victim on his left eye and tried to stab him in the abdomen but missed.
Despite bleeding from his wound, the victim managed to block the robber's attack, resulting in a struggle for possession of the knife.
Residents who saw the incident intervened and pacified the two, with the suspect issuing another threat against the injured victim before fleeing toward Sitio Lubana.
The victim was quickly rushed to the hospital to receive treatment while the authorities launched a manhunt operation against the suspect.
He was later arrested in Sitio Mahayhay in the same barangay.
The police said the robber will be facing robbery and attempted homicide charges.
