A newborn baby was buried alive in a cornfield in Bayambang, Pangasinan on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The owner noticed bloodstains in the cornfield and alerted barangay officials.
Officials scoured the area and found a black plastic bag buried near a mango tree.
They opened the bag and found a newborn baby still alive but in critical condition.
The infant was taken to the Bayambang District Hospital but was later declared dead due to cardiorespiratory arrest.
Police identified a 32-year-old married woman, a lady guard and resident, as the mother.
The suspect faces an infanticide case.
