Senator Imee Marcos said she believes Vice President Sara Duterte has the “solution” for all the problems the country is currently facing.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s sister made the statement after Duterte announced her plans to run for president in the 2028 elections.

Marcos, who is a member of the Senate minority bloc, has since been known a staunch supporter of former president Rodrigo Duterte and his family.

“Itinaga lamang niya sa bato ang hiling at panawagan ng kanyang mga tagasuporta, kinumpirma rin niya ang takot ng kanyang mga kalaban. Siya ang katauhan ng kabaligtaran ng administrasyong ito; siya ang magbibigay ng direksyon sa kawalang patutunguhan ng bansa (She only set in stone the wishes and calls of her supporters, she also confirmed the fear of her opponents. She is the persona that runs counter to this administration; she will give direction to this country),” Marcos said in a statement.

“Taglay n'ya ang tapang at malasakit ng kanyang ama habang bitbit ang karanasan sa pagtulong sa maralita, mga nangangailangan at pinagmalupitan. Siya ang may solusyon (She embodies the courage and the care that her father has, while carrying the experience of helping the poor, the needy and the oppressed. She has the solution),” she further said.

Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go also expressed his support to Duterte’s political plans.

“Buo po ang aming suporta sa kanyang desisyon na tumakbo (We fully support her decision to run),” Go said in an interview.

“Ang sa akin lang naman, mabalik sa normal na pamumuhay ang bawat Pilipino. Yun lang po ang inaasam ko sa ngayon. Alam niyo naman po ang hangarin ko, merong gobyernong tapat at nagmamalasakit sa kapwa Pilipino  (As for me, all I want is that every Filipino can return to a normal life. That is all I hope for right now. You know my wish, a government that is honest and cares about fellow Filipinos),” said Go.

“Yung tapang at malasakit na gobyerno nung panahon ni Pangulong Duterte dapat pinagpatuloy po yun, eh. Tuloy tuloy dapat yun (The courageous and caring government during President Duterte's time should have been continued, right? It should continue),” he said.

Sen. Erwin Tulfo also welcomed the vice president’s announcement, but said he believes that it won’t affect the impeachment proceedings in the Senate, should the impeachment complaint that was filed against her, is submitted to the Upper Chamber.

“I don’t want to respond to that because should it reach the Senate, I am one of the senator-judges. We have to do our duties as senator-judge,” Tulfo said.
