Ex-cop, woman fall in drug sting

TACLOBAN CITY – A dismissed cop and a woman were nabbed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion District 3, Babatngon, Leyte on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Police identified the suspects as Fred, 55, Eastern Visayas’ Rank 1 Regional Priority Target List (RPTL), and Gela, 21, resident of Babatngon and a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade.

Recovered from them were 39 grams of suspected shabu valued at P265,200, a pump-action rifle, bullets, and a grenade.

Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, Police Regional Office-8 director, lauded operating units for the successful operation.

“I commend the team for their bravery and professionalism in this operation, rest assured that PRO-8 will continue to pursue those involved in illegal activities and ensure that they face the consequences of their actions,” he said.
