Contractor denies involvement in any flood control project in Bulacan
One of the construction companies named by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in their joint referral for investigation for alleged involvement in ghost flood control projects has denied association with embattled Bulacan 2nd District Rep. Tina Pancho.
In a clarification letter sent by its counsel, C.M. Pancho Construction Inc. (CMPCI) said that the congresswoman, who was among the eight "cong-tractors" tagged by the ICI and the DPWH in their November 26 referral to the Ombudsman, "has no affiliation whatsoever with the business."
CMPCI also said that it was "not involved in any flood control projects."
"For clarity, the only project secured by CMPCI in Bulacan is the Plaridel Bypass Arterial Road, which is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). CMPCI implemented only road projects from DPWH Central Office with foreign funding and has never undertaken any local district projects anywhere in the Philippines," it added.
The company's clarification came as both ICI and DPWH said that "C.M. Pancho Construction, Inc. (“CMPI”) was a domestic corporation duly registered with the SEC."
ICI and DPWH also said that "the stockholders of CMPI are all relatives of incumbent Bulacan 2nd District Representative Augustina “Tina” Pancho, who has served as such since 2019," before naming seven individuals, with Pancho as their surnames or middle names.
According to CMPCI, the company "primarily engages in foreign-funded and privately-funded projects undertaken by major businesses in the country."
