Caraga's most wanted nabbed

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested the No. 1 most wanted fugitive in the Caraga region on Monday, Feb. 16.

Agusan del Norte police chief Police Col. April Mark C. Young identified the suspect as Rico, 46.

Rico was apprehended in Barangay Macalang, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

"The Agusan del Norte PPO operatives successfully arrested the suspects through an intensified, intelligence-driven operation, and this involved gathering information from diverse sources, including community reports, surveillance, and informants,” Young said.

Rico was arrested on warrants for statutory rape with no bail recommended. The suspect was brought to the Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte police station for further documentation before turnover to the issuing court.

Meanwhile, seven Chinese nationals allegedly engaged in illegal mining operations were caught in Barangay Gango, Libona, Bukidnon recently.

Seized from them were millions worth of copper ore and mining equipment. Police uncovered a vast underground tunnel in the mining site. The suspects face appropriate charges.
