TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Three members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary were killed and two others were wounded in a shooting incident at the Allangigan Patrol Base in Barangay Apatan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga on Tuesday evening, Feb. 17.
Police Capt. Ruff Manganip, spokesperson of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, said the incident occurred at about 8:50 p.m.
The suspect, a CAFGU Active Auxiliary member assigned to the patrol base, allegedly opened fire without apparent reason using an M-16 Armalite rifle.
Three of his colleagues were killed and two others were wounded.
The suspect fled after the shooting but was later tracked down and arrested in Pinukpuk. He is now in police custody.
The 103rd Infantry Battalion condoled with the families of the victims and assured them of immediate assistance, including financial aid, psychosocial intervention, and other forms of government support.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
