Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto joined the flag raising ceremony on Monday, Feb. 16, surprising residents as he returns from medical leave.
Mayor Nieto was set to go back to office in March.
To make up for the past Mondays when the usual raffle activity was suspended during his absence, Nieto handed out cash prizes to ten winners.
The raffle prizes ranged from P500, P1,000, P2,000, P3,000, and P5,000, with two major winners receiving P10,000 each.
The surprise giveaway added to the celebratory mood of the morning event.
Following the ceremony, the mayor proceeded to the One Cainta Convention Center where he personally led the distribution of social pensions to senior citizens.
Back at his office in the municipal hall, Nieto immediately resumed meeting residents seeking financial assistance and help with various personal concerns.
He continued receiving constituents throughout the afternoon, signaling a full return to his regular public service routine despite his recent health setback.
On Jan. 25, he was admitted to the hospital after suffering from severe chest pains,
an angiogram procedure revealed multiple blocks in all his major arteries.
