Manila reports 106% increase in new business registrations

The city government of Manila on Tuesday, Feb. 17, reported a steady increase in business registrations, with 1,243 establishments applying for new permits.
According to the Manila City Bureau of Permits, this represents a 106.48 percent year-on-year surge in new business registrations as of Feb. 15, 2026. During the same period last year, the city recorded only 602 new permit applications.
Paid new permits also increased from 588 to 753 this year, representing 165 additional applications.
Permit renewals also climbed 2.43 percent, with the number of businesses renewing their permits growing from 47,886 to 49,051.
This year-on-year increase of 1,165 renewals included 707 additional paid renewals, equivalent to a payment rate of 93.35 percent.
Processing of renewal applications climbed by 1,279 from the prior week, accompanied by a 5.35 percent increase in paid renewals—a rise of 4,279, the bureau reported.
Week-over-week figures for new applications similarly showed growth, with processed permits up by 218 and paid applications increasing by 255.
