CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – The Police Regional Office 4-A arrested 93 wanted persons during manhunt operations from Feb. 16 to 17 in the Calabarzon or Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Quezon area.
“This accomplishment is a testament that no shadow can escape the light of justice,” said Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, PRO 4-A director.
“We will continue to hunt those who try to evade the law and make them face the full weight of accountability,” he added.
Lucas reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining aggressive yet lawful operations to protect the public and maintain peace and order in the region.
Suspects were wanted for rape, murder, and robbery with homicide.
A 40-year-old man was arrested for eight counts of rape in Barangay Lucsuhin, Calatagan, Batangas on Monday, Feb. 16.
The suspect was the No. 2 most wanted person on the regional level and was apprehended on a warrant issued on Feb. 13 by the Family Court, 4th Judicial Region, Lucena City, Quezon with no bail recommended.
Meanwhile, a fisherman was killed and his companion is missing when their fishing boat capsized on Agos River in Barangay Pamplona, General Nakar, Quezon on Feb. 14.
Police identified the victim as Joel, 55. Missing was Bryan, 41.
Another companion, Ronie, 27, survived and reported the incident to the police.
Joel's body was discovered on Feb. 16 in Barangay Abyawin, Infanta, Quezon.
Tayabas fire
TAYABAS CITY, Quezon – A fire destroyed a popular restaurant in this city on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The blaze at Kamayan sa Palaisdaan started at 2:38 a.m. and reached the second alarm.
Firemen from Tayabas City, Pagbilao, Lucena City, Lucban, and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Tayabas City responded and fire out was declared at 3:35 a.m.
Nobody was killed or injured in the fire. Damage to property is yet to be determined.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire but reminded people to check electrical connections in their homes and establishments to avoid fires.
