QC gov't issues traffic advisory for Chinese New Year celebration

Several roads in the Banawe area will be temporarily closed from midnight of Feb. 17 until Feb. 18 for the QC Chinatown Chinese New Year 2026 celebration.
The 24-hour road closure will affect key intersections along Banawe Street and nearby roads, as part of preparations for the festivities in the Banawe Chinatown District.
The following are the road closures for the celebration:

⁃ Banawe Street corner Sta. Catalina Street
⁃ Banawe Street corner Sct. Alcaraz Street
⁃ Banawe Street corner Malaya Street
⁃ Banawe Street corner NS Amoranto Street
⁃ Palanan Street corner Sta. Catalina Street
⁃ Palanan Street corner Sct. Alcaraz Street
⁃ Palanan Street corner Malaya Street
⁃ Ubay Street corner Sta. Catalina Street
⁃ Ubay Street corner Sct. Alcaraz Street
⁃ Matutum Street corner Linaw Street
- Biak na Bato Street corner Linaw Street
Authorities said traffic rerouting schemes will be implemented to manage the expected influx of visitors and minimize congestion in surrounding areas.
Designated parking areas will also be m available for participants and attendees of the celebration.
The city’s Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD) and Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) will be deployed to assist motorists and ensure orderly traffic flow throughout the duration of the event.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips ahead of time and take alternative routes to avoid delays.
