VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – This province reported no damage from a magnitude-five earthquake on Monday morning, Feb. 16.
But Ilocos Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhon Arquelada advised residents to remain on alert for aftershocks.
“We advise our residents in Ilocos Sur to remain vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures. For updates and additional information, we encourage the public to regularly visit the official website and social media pages of DOST-Phivolcs,” he said.
The epicenter of the tectonic earthquake at 9:36 a.m. was 54 kilometers southwest of San Esteban with a depth of 16 kilometers.
People in Ilocos Sur and nearby provinces felt the tremor in varying intensities.
