Ambassador Lyster, together with his team, met with representatives from Yara Fertilizers and experts from Yara International
Embassy of Norway in Manila Ambassador Christian Halaas Lyster, joined by business and trade team members Ana Florentino and Claus Gaasvig, recently traveled to the sun-drenched island province of Guimaras. True to the province’s reputation, the visit proved fruitful in every sense of the word.
Guimaras, nestled in the Western Visayas, is celebrated far and wide as the Mango Capital of the Philippines. Its golden harvests are famed for their unmatched sweetness and flavor, delighting locals and captivating international markets. Against a backdrop of clear skies and lush greenery, the delegation immersed themselves in the island’s vibrant agricultural culture.
The highlight of the trip was a visit to Fatima Farm Resort in San Lorenzo, where Ambassador Christian Lyster and his team met farm owners Loel Losanes and Lodovico Losanes. They also engaged with representatives from Yara Fertilizers, the Norway‑based supplier supporting the farm’s operations. On site, Yara International’s experts, Michael Ardieta and Mark Moog, proudly showcased the thriving mango orchards.

Thanks to Yara’s cutting‑edge agricultural solutions, mango yields have soared—clear proof that science and tradition can work hand in hand to elevate local farming. With productivity on the rise, Guimaras is poised for even greater success. The promise of sweeter, higher‑quality mangoes opens doors for expanded exports, stronger local industries, and more opportunities for farmers to thrive.
Local government officials of Guimaras also joined the visit, where discussions focused on the province’s business and trade potential, as well as opportunities for collaboration between Norway and Guimaras.
Ambassador Lyster’s visit highlights the synergy between diplomacy, trade, and sustainable agriculture. With Guimaras’ mangoes continuing to captivate taste buds across the world, the island stands poised for greater economic growth and international recognition —much like the mangoes that continue to put this island on the global map.
