Two robbery suspects involved in a February 11 holdup that victimized a member and an employee of the Philippine Navy have been arrested in Pasay City.
Col. Joselito De Sesto, chief of the Pasay City Police, identified the suspects as “Buknoy,” 36, and “Ariel,” 21, both city residents.
De Sesto said Buknoy was collared inside the Queens Transient House located on F.B. Harrison Street, Pasay City, while Ariel was apprehended on San Juan Street, Barangay 8, Pasay City.
Prior to their arrest, a concerned citizen reported to the police about two men walking suspiciously in front of the transient house. One of them was allegedly seen with an object bulging from his waistline, believed to be a firearm.
Operatives from Police Substation 1 immediately responded and arrested Buknoy inside the transient house.
Ariel, who attempted to evade arrest, fled toward San Juan Street but was chased and cornered by police.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in a robbery-holdup incident that victimized Rosevan, 32, a member of the Philippine Navy, and Kristine, 32, an employee of the same institution.
De Sesto said the suspects’ involvement in the robbery was established following the recovery of an iPhone Pro Max owned by Rosevan.
Police recovered a hand grenade from Buknoy. He will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9516 (illegal possession of explosives), Meanwhile, Ariel, who was found in possession of a fake pistol, will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
De Sesto added that robbery holdup charges will also be filed against the suspects.
