At least three individuals, including an 82-year-old senior citizen, were reportedly injured in a four-vehicle collision in Antipolo City, Rizal on Saturday, Feb. 14.
The Antipolo City Component Police Station (Antipolo CCPS) said the incident occurred around 3 p.m. near Balete Intersection, along Circumferential Road in Barangay Dela Paz. Vehicles involved were a sedan, a closed van, a tricycle, and a Hiace van.
Based on the investigation, all four vehicles were traveling in the outer lane of Circumferential Road, heading toward Lico’s Park.
Upon reaching the place of incident, the closed van reportedly miscalculated its distance from the sedan directly ahead and accidentally collided with its rear portion.
The impact caused the sedan to move forward and hit the rear portion of the tricycle, which then struck the rear of the Hiace van, resulting in a chain-reaction collision.
The three passengers of the tricycle, including the senior citizen, a 37-year-old woman, and a seven-year-old child, were brought to Rizal Provincial Hospital Annex II for medical treatment.
The incident caused damage to all vehicles, the cost of which has yet to be determined.
Authorities said it was raining during the incident, and the wet road surface may have contributed to the collision.
