Executive Secretary Ralph Recto directed concerned agencies to intensify coordinated efforts to strengthen the country’s counter-terrorism response.
Recto said this as he convened the 37th meeting of the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) on Feb. 12.
In his remarks, Recto, who chairs the ATC, called for “concrete, coordinated actions grounded in vigilance, unity, and compassion for the nation’s welfare” as the government sharpens its strategic approach to emerging threats.
The meeting was held in line with President Marcos’ directive to reinforce peace and order nationwide, ensuring that all counter-terrorism measures remain anchored in the rule of law and guided by sound intelligence.
Among those present were National Security Council Secretary Eduardo Año, Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Secretary Sabuddin Abdurahim.
Senior representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) also attended.
Officials from key departments—including the Departments of National Defense, Justice, Information and Communications Technology, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Interior and Local Government, Education, Science and Technology, Labor and Employment, Transportation, and Social Welfare and Development—were likewise present.
Also participating were senior officials from the Anti-Money Laundering Council, Bureau of Customs, Commission on Higher Education, Philippine Center on Transnational Crime, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
