Over 1,000 couples tie knot in Caloocan City mass wedding
More than a thousand couples marked Valentine’s Day as newlyweds as the City Government of Caloocan conducted its annual Kasalang Bayan at the Caloocan City Sports Complex on Saturday, Feb. 14.
The mass wedding ceremony was led by Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan and formed part of the city’s celebration of its 64th Cityhood Anniversary.
“Congratulations po sa inyong lahat! Ang paalala ko lang po, ang kasal ay hindi parang pagkain na isusubo at iluluwa kapag napaso (Congratulations to all of you! I just want to remind you, marriage is not like food that you swallow and spit out when it's burnt),” he said.
The city mayor underscored the importance of commitment, patience, and mutual respect in sustaining a strong family foundation.
This is a lifelong commitment, with no expiration date, and it doesn't end with just saying 'I love you'. In every relationship, maintain mutual respect and honor your spouses),” the city mayor added.
He also assured the newlyweds that the city government remains committed to supporting them as they begin their journey as families.
From your wedding, to childbirth, health services, education, and even the livelihood and work you may need, the city government's projects are waiting to support you in supporting your family),” Mayor Along said.
The annual Kasalang Bayan continues to be one of Caloocan’s most anticipated Valentine’s Day traditions, providing couples the opportunity to formalize their union while celebrating love alongside hundreds of fellow residents.
