Police Regional Office-Mimaropa regional director Police Brig, Gen. Jovencio Badua Jr.
Police arrested on Saturday a 61-year old Korean wanted in his country for alleged financial fraud during an operation in Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro.
Police Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua, Jr., director of the Mimaropa regional police, said the arrested suspect, Hae Jung Chun, is subject of an arrest warrant by the Changwon District Court and the Seoul Central District Court, Republic of Korea, for alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act and the Electronic Financial Transactions Act.
“He is also a subject of an Interpol Red Notice in relation to these cases,” said Badua, adding that the arrest was in response to the Bureau of Immigration’s issuance of Warrant of Deportation against Hae.
Badua emphasized that the operation demonstrates strengthened inter-agency coordination and sustained intelligence-driven efforts against transnational crime.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: fugitives have no safe haven in Mimaropa, as we will relentlessly pursue those who evade justice and strengthen coordination with national agencies and international partners to ensure they are located, arrested, and properly processed,” he said.
Badua said the Hae is now under the custody of the Fugitive Search Unit, Bureau of Immigration.
